Persistence…Stubborn…Determi...
I am so happy that my whatever you call it…..let’s just say my persistence…..paid off.
i was having a huge problem with my lightroom 2.6. It was unable to open files in photoshop to edit. Yes i could just open them as dng. files but i feel like i was only getting half of lightroom’s capabilities.
I looked and searched in every lightroom board there is, on google, adobe….called all my photog friends + retouchers. Nothing!!!!!!!!
I even wrote to someone all the way in ENGLAND (praying he would email me back)…..and he did.
Thank you Mark for all your help….I love your other tutorials.
Funny under your data for keywords….he has birds…well in london they call woman birds….so i thought he was being funny and calling american woman (birds)…..i was thinking i was going to get a bunch of great keywords for people…..guessed wrong….
it truly is keywords for all diff. types of birds indigenous to the America’s.
So on with the story….I pretend for a little while that it doesn’t bother me….but really i am ready to go crazy…..
ok more research……delete, upload again….let me trY a diff. hard drive…..nothing. Still unable to edit in CS3. My files are coming up all the same name…nothing to do with the file it is…..they were coming up samanthascott.tif / so i understand they cannot open all with the same name.
i start thinking…..let me go into my preferences and see what i can change….maybe a prefix, add a little info for a external editor…..anyway when i am finished retouching i rename it.
so i decide to add the date the image was captured 20100227- I GO BACK TO MY DEVELOP MODULE….I right click on IMG_7618 and i see on the top left corner “Preparing file for editing 20100227-IMG_7313″
I don’t want to get to excited….cause it is now 6am…..and i feel like i have wasted all night on nothing.
And then OMG…..Yes it is a tiff file opened in Photoshop!!!!!!! It worked.
I don’t know exactly how my Lightroom got like that….but I sure am glad that I fixed the problem…..
Here is the first retouched image after the fix…..most of the retouching was done in Lightroom…..sharpening in CS3

Amazing shot! A little angel falling from the heavens. Hopefully, you can get some rest now that you solved your Lightroom problem
I’ve just stumbled upon your site while searching for a tutorial on an related subject. Glad I did too. There’s a lot I like. Anyway, you’ve been bookmarked and I’ll be back soon.
tremendous shot! so much joy and exhilaration captured on that tiny face. blue is one of my favorite colors to shoot. was that a conscious decision or just a fortuitous coincidence? Either way it worked out fantastic.
Thank you for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such great information being shared freely out there.
Thanks for the great Post – very COOL!!!
