I JUST FINISHED A 2 DAy PRODUCTION. MY CIRCUS SHOOT……

I just wanted to curl up and die. Two days of shooting i was exhausted. Preparation for the shoot has been since January so literally every night i sleep like 2 hours, if I was lucky.
It’s very hard for me to let go and delegate.on a  production this big it’s almost impossible to do everything yourself.
Day before the shoot whatever could go wrong did.

Day one of circus shoot ,10 kids ,two hours late ,finally started shooting with no tent in place, now I am in my element. All that wasted time pinning ideas, making mood boards ( that I never even looked at) amazing isn’t it.I was running on empty. It wash a long day, and at the end of the day i was standing there alone with ziah…with just a few more things to deal with. Everyone had left, then the ranger told me i couldn’t leave the tent up. We got home around 10 pm.
Ziah was amazing, so well behaved the whole day. When it was time for her to model she was a rock star. She made her momma proud. Wow!!!
I put her in bed, and started to upload all the images from the day. I saw her set of photos and cried…I think some of the best photos I have taken to date. She worked so well with the other models. All the kids had such a good time. One of my little cuties wanted another costume….they didn’t want to leave.
Day 2 what can i say…very hard to rely on people to get the job done on time and the way you want it. After a bunch of obstacles I started shooting…I am so thankful that all the parents and models were so patient and understanding. Finally I get home late and start looking at the images from day 1…
Wait where are the photos of ziah + Tavi …of jojo and the bang gun….ticket sales…

They are all gone…it’s Murphy’s law I guess…out of all my cf cards that was the one I formatted and used the whole thing on day 2.

i have decided to reshoot that part of the shoot. Ziah doesn’t know it yet………

Hey everyone that still reads this blog….. Sorry its been so long. It isn’t that I don’t have what to blog about or images to share……

life just gets in the way….you know what I mean.

I really wanted to do things differently this year….but no such luck.

I am still trying to pick my word for the year…..and it is already mid march.

I have been preparing since before the New Year  quite a large photo shoot……which has consumed me. Tomorrow is the big day.

I want to thank everyone that helped me get to this point. With no budget and a lot of paint we made everyday things into colorful surprises.

Be on the look out……the circus is coming to town real soon.

When I was 5, my parents took me to the circus, and it truly was amazing. Did you know Circus is the only live entertainment featuring people and wild animals.

Back in the olden days  kids and adults would go to see wild animals at the circus in their village tents, today we must go to the zoo. (or safari in Africa)

I am slightly obsessed with the whole Big Top, traveling circus….freak shows, carnivals and the people that work at them “Carni’s”

Maybe I am somewhat envious of their nomadic life…….

We must take our children to see the circus

wow like 4 months ago. where did 2011 go.

i didn’t know what i wanted to do with the images….until yesterday i got inspired.

I was so excited to shoot the 1st release for the matilda jane fall collection “field trip”.

Not just because i am slightly obsessed with the clothes, but i also got to shoot at one of my many locations that i found by accident.

To top it off i used one of my handmade (made by me) tree swings……..

Such simple things, make me so happy…..it being like 98 degrees and 120 % humidity not so much.

I am sure to host one last trunk show before our departure. I think sometime in September.
